attn tiger muskie fishermen/women
#1
I'm not looking for secret spot or lures. I just have a simple question. What is the best time of year to pursue them.

Early fall seems to be my hottest most consistent musky bite, it depends on how you plan on fishing for them. They follow the perch and crappie around out to the deep and into the shallows. This time of year with the open water should be awesome , early spring is some really good fishing for big tiger muskies. Big lures catch nice fish when it comes to muskies. Find the ambush points that transition from shallow to a deeper shelf. Hope this helps you.

Are the fish shallow or deep this time of year? I spent quite a bit of time last fall targeting both shallow and deep water and have struck out so far. I'd like to target them when they are shallow.

Thanks I have a local water that hold just a couple dozen that are nearing 10 years old. And I want to try and get one before they all die off from old age.

Muskies move into the shallows in the spring time as soon as the Temps during the day start to warm up. They move into the shallows to due a fake spawn due to being a sterile hybrid. They set up to ambush a easy meal and to fight off anything in their spawning area. Right now the fish are in the deeper water eating the crappie and perch.

Early July has been my best month....but, I have had some great days in October at Pineview for them too. In July I have had my best luck fishing in water less than 8 feet deep around cover. In October they seem to be holding in deeper water near drop offs....

I've caught em spring, summer and fall up at Newton.
Probably was most active early summer.
Caught just as many perch fishing as i did musky fishing.
Kinda nuts haha. Nothing like battling a monster musky!

My best time has typically been mid September to mid October, and then May and June has been second best.

I was told big bait catch big fish.. I caught this with a 10 inch chub thru the ice. I attached two treble hooks thru it with wire line to a swivel
