Yesterday morning it looked like only the east half of the state park bay was open from the highway.

Thanks for the information . I am going to set up my camp on May 9 . I went up two weeks ago and almost all the snow was gone on my property .

Henrys has a lot of open water off the State Park. The fish are stacked in there like cord wood along with the pelicans. Hopefully with some warm water they will disperse before opening day. There must be close to 75 pelicans hanging around near the mouth of Howard Creek.

The state Park is open for camping with only vault toilets and probably no water,

This is very early for ice off . That gives the lake 30 days to warm up , and the fish to move away from the shore .

Sorry, I should have included the link.

It is the Modis Sat images on: http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/

Overall US map is here:

Idaho images:
http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/imagery....=id-mt-000

They aren't as good as Google Earth in detail, but for an up to date general image they are great. The trick is finding a clear day!

I use the false color ones to see what level the main snow line is at on the mountains. Good for hiking and an idea of when ice off is.

True color is better for seeing things like smoke etc.

Thank You. I have a lake on my mind. I would like to hit it as near ice out as possible, but I also have to make sure the trail isn't full of gigantic snow drifts. I'm thinking we might truly be a month ahead of normal at this location which has 63% normal snowpack right now.
