Mantua Shorefishing 7/15/15
#1
Went fishing yesterday morning at Mantua with my little brother, we caught around 25 fish between us and kept 11 for some fish tacos. We were using the standard worm and bobber, and caught mainly blue gill, with some perch and small bass thrown in. Most were caught early, we got to the lake at 6:00 and I think we should have been there a little earlier than that even. On our way back to the car we talked with a guy who had a nice bass on the stringer, it looked to me to be around 5-7 lbs. It looked like he was using a frog lure. All in all a fun day, and a delicious dinner.

Thanks for the report, any size to the gills or perch?

Nothing huge, but big enough to make the trip home in the cooler.

Bank fishing or by boat? Are the weeds getting thick near shore?

I went this morning and the water level is going down and the weeds are starting to get bad. The fishing was terrible. Caught a 16" bass and a 16" rainbow and that was it. Normally I can see smaller fish swimming around but a barely saw anything. There were 3 boats early. Maybe they had better luck than I did. Saw a sign that said the reservoir was closed yesterday, don't know why.
