Hummingbird Helix 5 si combo

Anybody else out there using a helix 5 si or similar. When I'm fishing for kokes, I'm not only seeing the fish shapes showing fish on the screen, but I'm also seeing thin curve shapes (like you see on tuna fishing show) showing up on screen. Would be nice to have some idea what is what. Even when I use the flasher screen and try to watch for orange, I never see it even when I'm catching kokes..

I think you are talking about fish ID setting...I turn mine off because I like the raw data instead of the fish icons....you can compare size of fish by banana size shapes....here is page describing the setting. My model is 698ci si so all settings will not be the same.

I just bought the Helix 5 SI GPS KVD series for the new boat, no experience with it yet but my buddy justjoshnya has the 999 KVD series or 989 something like that and they are sweet, spent the money on one now, most should be discounted, they are getting room for next years models that should be coming out shortly...

Yeah, I have the 999ci HD SI KVD units. The Helix units actually came out after I purchased mine, otherwise I would probably have purchased the Helix instead. I'm not very familiar with these new units, but I have heard great things. From what I understand, the main difference between mine and the Helix is the new units do not have ethernet sharing capability. It is a neat feature, but the cheaper price of the Helix is much more appealing to me. A couple guys have YouTube channels and do an excellent job of explaining how to get the most out of your unit. Doug Vahrenberg has a really good one.
