Back aches be damned. I have my best perch fishing after all the kids are back in school so I thought I would run up to Blacktail today before the rains set in. I got two good hours in before the first crack of thunder hit and the wind and rain blew me off my spot. The perch were solid red three feet up from the bottom on my Vexilar I hated to leave but maybe one more time before it gets really cold. Here is a picture of ones I kept.

Excellent stringer Taz! Glad to see that you are back out and hitting it!!! Had the wife and daughter out to Ririe Friday evening for a few hours... brought home 93 of those tasty things. I think it took me longer to clean em than it did to catch em! Was a total blast!
Out of town for work this week but hope I can run into a few of em this weekend.

I would like to take some kids out there for some action. What type of setup/bait are used and area - rocky vs flats this time of year?

Had the wife and kids out Friday evening. Was real windy and a pain in the butt, however we ended up with 65 perch by fishing crawlers and cut bait directly below the boat in 11 to 16 foot of water. That is where I could finally get the anchor to hold us! It was along a gradually sloping shoreline with the wind pounding into a rocky point down wind of us. Could see plenty of fish on the finder...

I use my ice fishing rods with sensors. A inch long chrome Swedish pimple with red attractor, single hook with a tiny piece of crawler. Here is my catch from today 9/28. I caught these in four hours.

You know those little wires that go through your first eye and attach to the framework of the second eye. They make your ice rod extra sensitive. I guess they are called a strike indicator. I also use my ice fishing Vexilar to dial in on them.

Those are often referred to as "spring bobbers", if I'm following you correctly. I thought maybe you had something new you were using.
Spring bobbers are very effective.

I am going try and get there Saturday and see if we can get a bunch for dinner. Probably going to try around Blacktail I'll be in a small Western aluminum fishing boat with a couple kids. How far is it from juniper to Blacktail ramps?

I would think at least three miles. You know the docks were still in when I went to Blacktail on Monday and they have also took out the pay booths. Your still able to launch a good size boat from that side.
So I spent three hours cutting up the last batch of perch, here a couple pictures of the finished product.

Glad to see others are getting out and getting some of those perch. Nice mess of fillets!
Had the wife and one daughter out Thursday night for a couple hours and ended up with 48 of them with a couple smaller ones thrown back. Also got about a 4 lb sucker that livened things up for a bit!
Put in at Blacktail and there was not much dock in the water at all! Water definitely has a little more color to it on that end of the lake as well.

Perch are still biting!
Took a solo trip out to Ririe yesterday evening and ended up hooking a bunch of perch and a lone rainbow trout(planter). Found em in 10 to 20 foot of water. They were pretty eager, taking both crawlers and cut bait. Beautiful evening on the water and only had to share it with a few other boats.
Getting ready to fry a mess of em up, cannot wait... YUMMY!!!
