I haven't heard ONE positive report on any of the reporting sites I go to. The couple guys I know that have been there have said it was bad for them and everybody else there, too.
What's up? Even if you don't have a good report, got any ideas?

Seen in another post some talk of the poisoning of the weeds last fall is being blamed for some of the problems... I have seen a few fair reports, but for the most part I think it's been a much slower year than usual up there... I know the pressure has sure eased up so there aren't many folks fishing it now... Good luck if you go... Later J

I wonder if the town of Mantua is required to report when they do a weed-killing like that. Also, just sayin....if I was told someone had screwed something like that up and I was asked to guess who, there's only one town and one body of water that comes to mind.

Mantua has been strange this year. I don't think it's a poisoning/die off like some rumors have started. The reason I say this, is because the first two weeks of the ice season was absolutely phenomenal. Nobody was out there after the story of the lady falling through the ice, and guys were pounding the panfish, literally 50-100+ fish days.
What is the problem? I don't know. I do know there is still some good success being found by guys willing to think outside the box, but it's still not what it should be.

I've asked around and also searched online, and cannot find a single verified report that there was any weed poisoning at Mantua. If anyone can cite an official source about it, please do.
In the meantime, I still haven't gone to Mantua yet this year, much to my discredit. But I will.
