Hello and happy February!! Has anyone ventured to Lost Creek recently. Thinking of heading up there. How is the access - looks like you can park at the dam. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS

I took a ride up there last week just prior to recent storm. The normal potholes apparent and road service ends at bus turn around. Parking lot is not plowed, you can get in there but 4X4 is a must. Road leading over dam to the launch area is snow covered requiring snow machine use for access.

Catching has slowed down but still pretty decent, I have been impressed with the fish size this year. Only parking is at the dam unless you have a snowmobile, and remember, getting down to the ice is easy, its the coming back up that SUCKS!!

Was there the other day, got like 4 fish, 2 were little cutts, other two were baby bows. Got two rabbits that were stuck in the ice too! Lucky bonus!

We fished there from 11am - 9:30pm Saturday. Fishing was slow until later in the afternoon, then BAM!! we filled the lower slot limit, but couldn't bag the larger than 22". Nice healthy bows and cuts.
I watched a monster circle my jig for about 30 minutes, and take and spit 2 times. If I didn't actually watch it take I never would have known it was there. I set the hook once and was immediately broken off.
NOTE: The middle of the ice was 4" of snow, .75" of crust, 8" of slush and then ice. My Gore Tex lost it's Tex and my feet were soaked. The edges were slushy, but not nearly as bad. Our tent had 2" of standing water. We would catch a fish and it would swim in the tent until it found one of the 6 ice holes to make it's escape.
I definitely want to add skis to my sled. It was pushing snow/slush all day making the already heavy load a real bugger!
Best of luck

Where did you access the reservoir from?

The Dam. Unless you have a snowmobile it's really the only place. Go down at the spillway or there is a 4' wide trail on the north end of the parking lot.

Just be careful TysonSugi if you put skis on your sled, its great for pulling it by hand. I did it, then pulled it with my snowmobile hit some slush and when we popped up onto the hard stuff the skis stayed under and got ripped off.

The larger Jet Sleds work pretty good behind a snowmobile as long as you keep the speed down.

I was there on saturday and I agree with everyone saying the dam is the only access unless you have a snowmobile. I tried taking a four wheeler and didn't get very far. I fished not far from the parking lot. Between four of us in three hours we caught five fish. Four of them were cuts from 17-19 inches and one 10 inch bow. On the fish finder we were seeing most fish from 40-50 feet of water. I was impressed, I haven't seen that many good sized fish at lost creek before.

I am interested to know why the wheeler didn't work, to much snow , can you drive the wheeler to the boat launch? Did you take your truck all the way to the dam? Or leave it where? Thanks

There was just too much snow. We parked the truck at the parking lot by the dam. The road was slick getting up to the parking lot, one guy in a jeep pulling a trailer slid and got stuck on the side of the road on the way up. We got up there just fine with a trailer though. We took the wheelers out and went over the dam and as soon as we started heading north we would get high centered. Maybe snowmobiles have now packed the snow so you might be able to get to the boat launch now but on Saturday we didn't even get close.
