Cleaning stations?
#1
Did someone ask this already and I missed it? What's the deal with the cleaning stations at Willard? Normally open by Memorial Day. [frown]

Nice day at WB yesterday. Spent a few hours on the water, boated & released 1 junior size Wiper

Gave my new 7 ft. 8 inch spinning rod from BFT a first check out yesterday.

I thought the north one was up and working. I've seen people there, at any rate. Had no need for it myself, though...sigh.

Well, I haven't used them much in the past because I could take fish home and clean them. Now that I've moved, it's much simpler to clean them at the lake, bag up the fillets in an ice chest for the ride home.
I haven't been to the north marina at WB since the Flotilla, so can only comment on the south station, but it is still bagged.

I'd place my bet on one of two possibilities: there's either a part they need and can't get, OR, they had it open and some mental midget dumped a bushel of fish parts in the chute before turning on the motor (which chokes it and burns out the motor).

I noticed it was still covered yesterday, I guess one of us needs to contact them to fine out for sure what the problem is but about a month ago or so, someone said they were waiting on parts. As far as I know the one at the North marina is working. Nice rod and with that reel, it looks like a great setup. Congratulations on winning First place in the Flotilla photo contest.

The SM cleaning station is broken and the plan is to have it fixed sometime in July. That is according to the lady at the shack.

OK, thanks. Guess I will either launch out of the north marina, or carry my catch up that way to use the station. I suppose I could keep my ice chest on the boat, launch from the south, and hit the cleaning station as a turn around point before heading south again..............naaa, that's too much water to cover in my little boat just to clean fish. [:/]

But thanks again for the info ZATARRA

It's an inexpensive reel, and not caught anything on it yet, but it sure casts nice, and I'll bet it's pretty sensitive to a light bite too.
Thanks. I'll let you know when it gets it's first fish on.
