[#800000]I always have a hankering to fish somewhere the day after Thanksgiving. This year was no exception. A quick phone call to longtime friend Justin R. (JiggyJus10 on BFT) and he joined me and my 10 year old "fishing buddy" for a late fall trip to the Berry.[/#800000]
[#800000]I left my house at 4:30 AM and after a few pit stops along the 3 hour drive, we arrived at the Renegade marina at 7:30.[/#800000]

[#800000]The dock had been pulled out of the water so, after launching the boat, Justin had to climb in from the bank.[/#800000]
[#800000]We launched only to find that my motor had a frozen pee stream so we weren't going anywhere for a while. Since I knew that Curt (LuvThemCuts) was launching from the main marina today, I gave him a call to come give us a pull around the corner. While we were waiting there in the water by the ramp, we landed a couple cuts. That was a nice reward after having found out that we were stranded. Right about when Curt pulled up, I gave the motor another try and the pee stream freed up … we were on our way.[/#800000]

[#800000]After we had landed about 25-30 fish, Curt and company came back around. They had been out trolling but hadn't caught anything. We, on the other hand, were having a blast. A good heard of fish came through and we got so busy that the net was busy 100% of the time for about 20 minutes. [/#800000]
[#800000]Feeling kind of bad for Curt and his guys, we offered to put Justin on his boat and one of his guys on my boat for some hands-on training. Justin climbed into Curt's boat and a fellow by the name of Tim climbed into my boat.[/#800000]
[#800000]After using the right lure, some chub meat, plenty of ProCure, and some one-on-one coaching, Tim had the hang of it. [#800000]The entire day, we fished using 2½ inch Pearl Holographic Fresh Water Basics tubes with a 3/8 oz. jig head tipped with a piece of chub meat and slathered with Procure anchovy smelly jelly. We never really caught any casting. Most (if not all) came in vertical jigging just a few inches right off the bottom. Oh, and in the afternoon hours, 3/4 of the fish bite on the shady side of the boat (really, I promise!)[/#800000]
[#800000]Here's a short YouTube clip that Justin took. I got a kick out of watching it. You might too:[/#800000]
