Big Sturgeon on Snake R.
#10
Yes indeed I had a good teacher. I also had a great deckhand even though he is 81 he is very active and spends a lot of time fishing the Arkansas river and Lake Degray in Arkansas. After pulling the rear 12 lb. anchor all day the first day we decided to put a float on it and toss it overboard like the front anchor when we hook up on a fish. Sure did speed things up and saved a lot of pulling. Then after landing the fish, we would just motor up to the rear float, tie it off and motor up to the front float, tie it off and be in the same position as we were before.
According to the weight charts, the 11 sturgeon we caught weighed over 1400 lbs.. Not bad for 2 days of fishing for 2 newbies.
