Started the day around 945 at a the Charleston area of deer creek where the bridge crosses and I decided to just stand right at the base of the of the bridge. I had on a special TD jig head and a red currly tail grub tipped with a night crawler. First cast and caught an 8" trout. After releasing it I cast out with same worm on the same jig and again caught another small trout about 8" maybe the same I don’t know. But I was excited for the day. This time I had to put on new nightcrawler. After 35 minutes nothing more happened. I moved to the other side and nothing.
After 30 more minutes I drove down to walsburg state park area. When I got there 2 guys were just leaving holding a bucket with 6 fish. They said they were there for 3 hours and caught most early which didn’t give me much hope but I had to try. I put my lines out one with power bait and the other with crawler and within 5 minutes I was getting hits on the crawler. Over the course of 20 minutes I went through 4 crawlers as they chewed them up. But I never got a hook set. I fished for about an hour and had to give up with no further activity. It was day of starting off hot and finishing cold.
How are you rigging your worms?
