strawberry Saturday morning and planes
#3
it was great no smoke but very very light ash on the water. fishing really slowed down for me at about 9 or 10am but I did see others catching fish after that as did I but the bite really slowed down. kokes where about 40' and color was not as picky before 10a.m at least for me I was using lead line and about 6 to 8 colors of line out with pink, orange silver and blue Dodgers or several different pop gears, most squids where pink green or multi color topped with nightcrawlers or a fake wax (crappie) wax worm. I think down riggers helped as when I would hook a fish I had so much line out it took me a few min to reel it all in and lost many fish in the process I think down riggers use less line. also I used one pole with a rubber snubber and one without and did not notice a catch difference but then again I felt like I was doing something wrong as most bites I quickly and a others right at the boat. Also I did notice more hits with shorter leader from Dodger to squid 8" to 12" but most fish where smaking it from the side causing quicks hits but fewer hook ups.
speed for me was 1.9 to 2.3 and I think if I could have gone slower it would have been better.

most fish where left (east??) out of the strawberry marina.

hope this helps and good luck.
