Quote:when I did see someone I was fast to get me and any of my gear out of the way.....You & a few others are the exception - there are many that do not feel this way.
One day late in the a.m. I came in with my boat (fishing alone) & 3 older gentlemen were fishing off the docks at Deer Creek. They each had a lawn chair, tackle box & 2 rods a piece. The wind was blowing and I did not have a really good choice to tie up to the dock other than where these guys were fishing. It made for a difficult situation & nobody was happy.
I understand why they would like to fish there, I would too if I were fishing from the shore. However, it is really inconvenient for boat owners to come in and weave their way through the dock fishermen.
I have a solution - how about building a pier that extends into the reservoir that is built for fishermen (on foot) & located in prime fishing habitat. You go to Texas & they are all over the place. People are fishing 24/7 & there is a tackle shop nearby with helpful information, tackle and bait. However, they charge you $5 a day to fish. But you get a wooden walkway & benches to sit on. Sounds like a money maker to me! Then to make it really worth while, design it so the walkway floats up & down with the reservoir level - like the docks in Alaska.
State Parks - you need some help laying this out, please do not hesitate to contact me! (maybe some of the local fishing clubs could have a fund raiser to help finance these projects).
My 2 cents for the day!
