Why no fishing from the dock???
#35
The problems caused by fishing near the boat ramp during a busy day are obvious, boats move in and shore anglers expect they'll use the other side of the dock and don't reel in, maybe the boater does maybe they don't. Delays start, the next boat moves in, the angler has to reel in everything and other boats can stack up either embarking or returning. You would THINK people could be efficient and courteous, but people can prove that theory wrong with little to no effort.

The other major problem is probably the most likely reason for the rule: fishing garbage. Boater comes up on a bobber floating thinking it's just a bobber but it's actually attached to line that is snagged somewhere and the line gets sucked up in the impeller shaft or into the jet intake. Not good and it would happen all the time.

The pier is a great idea for some places but not most, Jordanelle for example, because of how far out the shore goes in the summer due to water usage. That combined with variable ice formation in the winter at different possible elevations would make maintaining a wooden pier a nightmare.
