"Bycatch"

The craziest and most unexpected thing I've ever hooked into was a snakehead out of a small farm pond in Kentucky. I had fished this pond numerous times in the past, and always caught tons of LMs and big Crappies...but one day I hooked into something and as it grew near, I could tell it was something different. I remember dragging it up onto the bank of grass and wonder "what the hell"? LOL. The fish had come loose as I dragged it up, and it just sat there looking at me. I had no idea what snakeheads were at the time. I thought it was an eel of some kind. After looking at me for a sec, it started wiggling itself back toward the water and off it went. I went home and googled fish pics until I found it....definitely a snakehead. We did have some Asians around that area that probably had released some into that pond. It was bizarre. Haha!
