The Milwaukee's have been much stronger than my DeWalt and I like my Dewalt for home projects and all, but it just didn't have the torque to stand up to drilling thick heavy ice... I got the Milwaukee 2804 kit with two batteries and a handle and case and charger... Have been very happy with the drill. Only problem I have had is when it gets cold sometimes it will studder a little if I'm pushing too hard at the time. It has never smoked like the DeWalt did.. Plus you'll want the second handle else it can twist your wrists off... Lots of torque, in fact the insert I bought to connect my auger bit to the drill has started to twist a bit because it has so much torque and if the blade hangs up a bit something has to take the stress..
You might also want to look at the Home Depot store brand, (Rigid, I think), but they say it has a little more torque than the Milwaukee and sounds like a lot of the big time ice fishermen back east are going with that drill... But you'll like the upgrade to more torque, it's amazing how much stronger it is.. Good luck... J
