Hey my friend.
Yes only 10 fish caught out of 889 anglers.
10th place fish was a .8 oz.(5”) walleye.
The rest were rainbows, biggest I believe was 2.25 lbs.
I tried for bows, perch, bass, eyes or whatever and never marked a fish.
Pretty much the same with all other guys that I talked with. Nobody marking fish or getting any bites.
Fished from 20’-100’. All different type of baits.
The lady that caught the 2nd place trout moved to an open hole 25’ from me and set her pole down and started walking back to get her chair and her pole bounced and she came running back and pulled in a self-hooked bow!
A lot of luck involved in this type of tournament. But it only takes one fish.
They pre-drilled over a 1000 holes.
Because only ten fish were caught and they pay out 30 spots and usually the leftover prizes carryover to the next tournament, they did a nice thing and doubled up the prizes for the ten spots(10th got about $900 worth of stuff) and then they said to keep the money in Utah(no other tournaments in Utah) they raffled off the rest of the prizes!
Last year 26 fish were caught and the year before 5, they said.
Fish area was not the best area, just off the boat ramp.
I penciled in the dates and I am not sure if I am going to Florida or not at that time.
