If I may add a thought, put a transducer mounting board on your transom. You will likely need to relocate position several times to get best image so there will only be 2 holes in your boat instead of 4,6,or 8.

Can you explain your mounting board a little more?  I have an idea what you're talking about, but before I do something stupid because I don't understand correctly i'll ask for a little more detail...Maybe I won't get laughed at this way... sounds like a great idea and I need to mount a new transducer and my boat has been plagued with extra holes and I'm not sure silicone really seals them off very well if I put them in the wrong place... A picture is worth a thousand words....plus it has details I will send photo of mine tomorrow. I have 2 transducers mounted on it running a Lowrance and a Garmin. Both have SI/DI I also got about 12 holes in the mounting plate but only 2 in the transom.
