It has been a productive few weeks, this was our 2nd, 4 species day since Dan arrived, today that included walleye, a wiper, cats and perch.Very well done guys. Wonder why I didn't see you guys. Been along time since I saw Dan. Probably the last wiper tourney.
We arrived at the launch at 7:30 am and after trying to help a guy with a dead battery we finally got on our way and had lines in the water by 8 am. We had not even put our second line out when we had our first fish on, a fat kitty, it looks like they are eating well. Not long after that we had our first eye in the net, an average 17 incher. Looked like a great start to the day but after going back and forth through the spot, with no other luck we moved on. The day started off with low to no wind but it wasn't long before the wind picked up a little and so did the catching. We found a new spot and started catching more eyes, it wasn't long before we had 6 in the livewell or should I say deathwell . We picked up two perch up to 12.5" along the way, then a decent sized wiper and then the cats got in on the action. We had two triples with some more eyes up to 22" mixed into the fray. We kept at it until around noon, then the wind died down and it got hot. We were still catching fish but we had enough by this point, we hung in there until 1 pm when we headed in. We caught 12 eyes, one too small to keep and at least 15 cats, most went back to the lake but Dan wanted to keep 3 or 4.
When we got in, Dan kindly agreed to filets all the fish, thanks Dan. It has been a fun few weeks fishing with an old fishing buddy. Best lures were blue or purple back Flicker shad, trolled 50 ft behind planer boards.
