As you know, I still love the contest and hope we can increase interest and participation. If our objective is to have something fun for as many BFT folks as we can, I think we may need to shift the focus a little or increase the recognition in some way. It seems like the contest works for the hard core guys (guilty) but the last few years you have to have 3 cats over 30 inches within the first month or two or just quit. I think for many who just have fun catching cats it feels like the contest is over for them after the first month or 2.
To keep more people interested, there needs to be some hope of recognition in addition to or different from the current top 3 fish of the contest period.
Like I said, I like it as is and it has caused me to learn a lot over the years I've participated, but it may not be the best format for maximizing participation. I'm certainly willing to support changes that cause more folks to have fun with it.
