goin' to Haymeadow/Cold Springs and catch some Trout
#6
well i went to Kirch WMA Monday Afternoon, never been there, man thats a lonely drive . . . theres like two gas stations for 150 miles, but oh well i made it, decided to try the first lake cold springs reservoir, cause I had no reports to go on . . . beautiful day, low 70's light breeze . .[Image: cold1.jpg] I checked out the lake at the boat ramp knowing its about 9 foot at its deepest, and was amazed at the amount of green funk growing from the bottom up to about 6 inches from the surface, the water was nice and clear, and seemed in the 60's not very cold at all . . [Image: cold3.jpg] so i went to the little parking lot by the levee . . one set of folks came in as i left, said they caught nothing . . the problem was the floating dead vegetation that went out over 20 feet from shore, making fishing aggravating as hell . . [Image: cold2.jpg] well i rigged up with worms and powerbait cause it was 2 pm already and i just wanted to fish after a 3 hr drive (185 miles from my house in vegas) - I fished for about 45 minutes before deciding to try Haymeadow, when I got a fat spawning 18 inch rainbow football . . [Image: cold_trout.jpg] so I hung out another 20 minutes, then went to haymeadow, same deal, basically no place to fish except the dam side and the 1/4 mile or so walk just to get there . . gotta bring some buddies to carry the coolers and tacklebox next time . . and they're were already 5 sets of fisherpeople parties lining the dam, and I didnt want to squeeze in, so i checked out the other lake again from the boat ramp . . fished another hr with no luck and headed back to vegas . . I saw 5 or 6 boats and 10 tubers on haymeadow, with only 2 boats and 2 tubers on cold springs . . seems like haymeadow is the lake of choice! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIDEO http://getyourwebsite.biz/cold.ram -high speed for cable & dsl http://getyourwebsite.biz/cold1.rm - part 1 for modems http://getyourwebsite.biz/cold2.rm - part 2 for modems http://getyourwebsite.biz/cold3.rm - part 3 for modems http://getyourwebsite.biz/cold4.rm - part 4 for modems -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- id like to try haymeadow out for an entire day with a few guys, and maybe hike all the way around to the other side . . .i wouldnt think 99% of the people hike all the way over there . .so the fishing is prob prettty good, and it looked fairly clear for shore fishing . . . prob a few spots with no vegetation choking everything . . these are ideally lakes to fish from small boat or tube . .
