I believe there needs to be a mindset change. The carp need to be looked at as a resource which is useful. Then capitalize on it. For example, carp could potentially be used as a fish food source. Dried and turned into pellets to feed other animals or pets. When people find a way to make money from a resource, often it is over used and depleted. Isn't that what we are trying to do? If we could get the population down to a manageable level then we could still have a viable commercial fishery and start cleaning up the lake and restoring it.
There are other successful or partially successful bounty programs, like the pikeminnow fish on the Columbia River.
There would need to be money spent at first, but it could pay big dividends and provide incomes for a number of interested parties.
IMO
