Here’s a Strawberry report for you. Fishing was slow today. Not as many fish coming thru and those that did were not aggressive. Lots of lookers and very few takes. We fished from 7-1:30 on the SC side. I iced 6 cuts and one bow. My buddy did slightly better with 5 or 6 cutts and 6 bows. Bows were all small (<15”) and caught shallow under the ice. If anything worked better than the next, it was a 1/16 oz white Maniac ice jig with the white w/red flake gizzy bug tipped with a mealworm with some garlic crawler scent applied to the gizzy bug. A green gizzy bug tipped with salted perch and more scent also did some damage. Those that were in the vicinity didn’t seem to be doing any better. Slow day all around.
Temps were 4 degrees at start and probably around 45-50 at 2pm when we got off. No slush at that point and with colder temps and storms rolling thru next week, I’d bet the slush monster is still a week or so out before making its appearance. The road has been plowed towards the dam. We only went in a mile or so, but it appeared to be plowed beyond.
