Deer Creek 5/15
#1
[#0000a0]I didn't get home from willard until 10:30 last night. So, I decide to head to Deer Creek about 8am(I had to restring a reel and a few other things before heading to bed at 1am).[/#0000a0]

[#0000a0] At 8:30am State Park Marina water temp was a cool 53 degrees. I started at wallsburg bay and caught a rainbow on a white curlytail. That was boring so I went west to the railroad tracks. Found warmer water 55-57 degrees over there, no bites. I just ran the shore line in dead calm conditions(only waves were from boats). I was up opposite of the island throwing jerkbaits and crankbaits, nada still. Then, started throwing a texas rigged Senko. A couple hits. Then switched to a jig-n-pig, threw right to some structure. I watched a largemouth suck it in and spit out before I could set the hook. Worked the area for a while, I saw some nice LMB's lurking and not biting against the bank. I had a LMB on with the jig, but didn't stick'em with the hook. Slight breeze came up, I threw a jerkbait against the bank-Fight on........he came unbuttoned(0-3 on LMB's). Wind died, switched to wacky rigged Senko. After about ten casts, bang! First smallie to show his face(I stoked, thinking now smallies are up), he was released unharmed. A couple more casts, then Wham!!! Gale force winds. I went back to reaction baits. The wind was too strong, I bailed for Wallsburg Bay. Started throwing lipless cranks again, I caught another smallie(both were just over 12"). I got tired of the wind and went home. [/#0000a0]
