Any one know of any fishing in the reno area ?

[cool][blue]Hey SWERV, ever heard of Pyramid Lake? Lahontan cutthroat over 20 pounds in there. Only problem is that most of the best fishing is in the cold months...October to March. After that they go deep.[/blue]

[#0000ff]There is also the Truckee River, that runs down the mountain from Tahoe and right through Reno. The drought has had some bad effects on the river but there are still some nice fish in it, in the deeper holes away from the road. Some regulars take big browns right in the middle of Reno.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]By the way, BADFISH, the only way you will make it to Tahoe from Reno in less than a couple of hours is by airplane. It is all uphill and the roads are two lane and winding. Get a couple of "tiltin' Hiltons" in front of you and it is slow goin'...but worth the effort. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I used to live in Sacramento and spent a lot of time in the Desolation Wilderness Area up behind Tahoe. Just like the Uintas. Lots of little lakes and small streams. Pretty.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You can catch rainbows and browns from shore early in the year at Tahoe, but to get the macks you have to fish up to 200 feet deep in the clear waters. They do get up to about 40 pounds in there, as did the Lahontan cutts before they were devastated by commercial fishing and their spawning flows in the Truckee River were taken by farming and mining. I have seen pictures of wagon loads of cutts as big as salmon from the old days.[/#0000ff]
