Angel Lake

Fishing has been fair to good since Memorial Day. Carry over rainbows are in good shape. Brookies are abundant but slightly stunted after the winter as usual.
Worms and rainbow PowerBait work well. Small spinners and rooster tails are also favorites in just about any color. Movement seems to mean more than the color.
The road is now open, but there is still snow on the ground in the area and expect cooler conditions and dress appropriately.

Boise/Jakes Reservoir Water level is good, it has been stocked , though carryover is minimal. Water is clear and fishing is fair using bait or artificials.

Use the same as if you were at South Fork. Power bait and worms, gold blade spinners and rooster tails. Fly fisherman keep the flies dark and small to medium in size.

Carlin Pond

Fishing is fair to good. Carlin has been stocked with 1000 fish and there have been some carryover fish from last fall.

power bait and worms
The parking area gate is locked when conditions are muddy. Saturday, June 12, from 9 am to noon there will be a kids fishing derby. Prizes will be awarded by raffle to children under 18, fly tying demonstration and rods/reel combos available to check out for those who don't have their own. Call 775-777-2305 for more information

Cave Lake

Fishing is a little slow. Most of the brookies and rainbows are being caught at the east end of the lake.
Try small flies such as adams and griffiths gnats. Small wooly buggers and cave lake specials work as well. As usual, worms and power bait will work. When it gets weedy, float the worms using a bobber, marshmallow or powerbait.
A great place to go in the afternoons if you get blown off of Commins. Saturday, June 12, there will be a kids fishing derby with registration from 8 to 9, and the derby going from 9 am to noon. . Call 775-289-1655 for more information.

Comins Lake

Fly fishing in the south end has been fair to good. Bait anglers are catching their limits from shore in the north end.

Chironomid (midge) patterns in sizes 12 thru 16 are working for fly fisherman in the south end of the lake. Also try prince/pt/hares ear nymphs. Bait fisherman are using powerbait and worms. Shape the Power Bait into a worm shape and it works better.
Heavy afternoon winds will blow you off the lake, so get here early.

Crittenden Reservoir

Fishing for trout is good. Water levels are in good shape and the water is fairly clear with not much weed growth yet. Bass fishing is slow, Avg bass around 12 inches. Trout up to 22 inches have been caught.

Try silver rapalas with black backs and gold bladed rooster tails with brown or black. This is working for both bass and trout. Black and olive leech and woolybuggers are working as well. Bass are caught using same patterns on the bottom near the willows. Bass are also being caught with rubber gear also fished slow and on the bottom. This will be the case until the water warms up. Snail patterns are also working. Damsel fly patterns in the 12 to 14 size should work.
Caddis or may fly hatches should be starting up soon. Damsel flies are starting to hatch.

Dorsey Reservoir

Fishing is fair, with fish 8 to 14 inches being caught. With the wet spring water levels are still good.
Mostly bait fisherman here, but wooly buggers, leaches, hares ear and pt nymphs are working.
With this weeks rain, be careful at the low spot in the road right before you get to the lake. Lake will be drawn down by late June , please keep all the fish you catch up to the legal limit.

Jiggs/Zunino Reservoir
The reservoir is half full and 1000 fish have been stocked. Early morning fishing is recommended.
No report on what is working.
Water level is not expected to hold through the summer, so keep all the fish you catch up to the legal limit.

Illipah
Fishing conditions here are good, with carryover fish in the 13 to 16 inch class being caught. Illipah currently is receiving little or no pressure

Small midge patterns size 12 to 18.

Mountain Lakes & Streams

Mountain lakes in the Rubies and East Humboldt's are closed due to snow. Lower elevation streams are full and fishing is difficult. Tabor Creek north of Wells may be one possibility. Fishing the beaver ponds in Lamoille Canyon has been productive using worms or spinners.
[#000000][/#000000] May not open until late June early July due to snow pack. Mountain streams at lower elevations become more fishable after the snow melt slows down in June or early July.

Ruby Lake NWR

The best fishing is in the collection ditch for brood trout. Fishing is slow. With cool temps this week, bass fishing will probably be slow for the boat opener on Tuesday. Plan on targeting trout. Water levels are a little lower than last year at this time. This could be a difficult year to fish the marsh.
Anything black or olive in color, very buggy and with a bead head. Rubber worms in dark colors such as purple, black and rootbeer with a little sparkle work well. Black bear hair streamers work well for both bass and trout.
Collection ditch is artificial flies and lures only. The electric motor boat season opener is Tuesday, June 15.

South Fork Reservoir

Bass fishing is good on the nests. Trout fishing is slow to fair, though there is good size to the fish that are caught.
Trollers are using flashers with a worm trailer fished deep (15 to 35 feet) near the dam with success. Also silver rapalas with blue or black backs. Black with yellow or Olive with yellow spinners do okay. Blood, olive or black wooly buggers, both with and without beadheads on a full sink linework well. The damsel flies are out as well as the midges. A black and white midge pattern size 10 to 12 (the midges here are large) works well. Rooster tails in brown and black are working as well. Bait fisherman are doing okay using worms or PowerBait.
Bass is catch and release only until July 1. Please return the bass as quickly as possible to the water in the location they were caught so as to let them get back onto the nests. There is a 5 fish limit on catfish which is new this summer. With recent weather trends, boating has been shaky in the afternoons due to high winds. Please proceed with caution and wear your PFD. Remember, it pays to wear your life jacket.

Wildhorse Reservoir

The water level is around 45%, but they are letting water out of the dam at a pretty good flow. Water levels will probably start dropping soon. The boat ramp and dock are both useable at the state park. Fishing is fair to good. Perch hfishing is slow to fair. To get the larger perch you need to fish deep water. Catfish should be picking up as the water warms up. For catfish try the Hendricks arm. Trout fishing has been good for both shore and boat anglers. There is some algae growth starting.

Power bait and worms are working for the shore fisherman. Use green or chartreuse spinners, PowerBait or rapalas. If the bright green doesn't work then try switching to dark colors if you notice algae in the water or if it is turbid. For perch in deeper water, try jigging with a bright colored jig on a small lead head tipped with a piece of worm or night crawler. Trollers should use the old standby of flashers and nightcrawlers.
Will receive a complement of catfish and wipers this summer in addition to the normal stocking of trout. Bass is catch and release only until July 1. Please return the bass as quickly as possible to the water in the location they were caught so as to let them get back onto the nests. There is a 5 fish limit on catfish which is new this summer.

Willow Creek Reservoir
No Fish- Winter Kill 2 years ago with the reservoir being drawn down the last two summers.
Water levels expected to be poor this summer and no intent to stock the lake at this time.

Wilson Reservoir

Still spilling and has been stocked and weather permitting, more stocking will take place. Spillway fishing is good below the falls. Fishing is fair to good with shore fisherman having the best luck. Water is clear and fishing is good in the lake. Bass fishing this lake is a little difficult, but worth the effort. Fish the willows and weedy areas with weedless rubber gear.

Worms in the spillway and worms and power bait in the resevoir. Rapalas and small spinners in bright green and chartreuse are working for boat anglers. For flyrodders, try large dark patterns such as bead head wooly buggers in black, olive or blood colors.
Water levels expected to be good throughout the summer.
