Fished Electric Lake for a couple hours yesterday with my granddaughter. Five year olds don't have a very long attention span -- she was ready to go after catching one fish. Caught (or at least had bites) them on minnows, crawlers and PowerBait. I had to make do with only two minnows. I need to have Fuzzyfisher show me the fine art of catching minnows there in a minnow trap. I sure missed my casting net.
There was a man there with his wife and two teenage daughters who was camping and fishing. He and his family couldn't even buy a bite. He admitted that he didn't know much about fishing. I told two of his daughters, as they walked by, to tell him to come over and let me teach him how to catch some fish (and I would have even been willing to give him some necessary tackle -- including a fly and bubble for catching them in the evening) but I guess his pride wouldn't let him come over. All he could do was shout from a distance, "If you catch a bunch of minnows in your minnow trap I want some." Foolish man -- I have been catching fish for about 50 years from these small mountain reservoirs, and with the sharing of a little knowledge he could also have been catching fish.
