hey Kent.. you can fish the dam side in the summer and you dont have to go down the dam there is a road about 1/2 mile back from the dam that you can drive right down close to the lake..note 4x4 will be needed to drive right to the water and watch out for rain you dont want to be on that road if it gets wet..
