ELEPHANT BUTTE Striped bass fishing continued to be very good for some anglers and fair for others. The best reports came from anglers trolling umbrella rigs tipped with white plastic grubs. Live bait also worked very well for some anglers who managed to catch limits of stripers. A few were also taken on jigs and deep running crank baits. Black bass fishing was rated as fair. Most were still being taken off main lake points with the best baits being jerk baits, drop shot rigs and jigs. Anglers fishing for bass also reported catching several channel catfish and blue catfish. They were taken on gulp worms, crank baits and jerk baits. The serious catfish anglers also did well using night crawlers over baited holes at the south end of the lake. A few good size white bass were taken on crank baits, grubs and jerk baits. There were no reports on other species.
ESCONDIDA LAKE Fishing was slow for all species.
GILA FORKS There were no reports from anglers this week.
