No signs of crappies. They would be found in the rockcliff's back bays which are ideal grounds for crappies, walleyes, LMB, and other species.
As for the age, I don't recall anything said about the age, however for it being older than the reservior... it's plausible but not likely, because there is an overabundance of baitfish for that brown to feed on. You should have been there to see it sideways. It's nearly two feet in diameter (23 inches girth) It's been eating very very well!
If you look closely at the gillnets on outdoorsgonewild.com you will see it is chockful of baitfish stuck on the nets...
