Week #15! Coined "Setback Sunday", Week #14 saw some of the hottest teams in the league take it on the chin while others went toe-to-toe, narrowly avoiding a knockout. Oh ... and then there is this one team that just keeps winning. Improving to 13-0 and moving to within three victories of immortality, the Colts dominated the Jaguars 26-18 keeping their unbeaten season alive. The once lost and forgotten Vikings have now moved to within one game of the NFC North lead by posting their sixth straight victory as they beat up on the Rams 27-13, while the Steelers showed they are still a team to be reckoned with as they downed the Bears 21-9. The Dolphins kept their AFC playoff hopes alive by stunning the Chargers in San Diego 23-21, while the Buccaneers got revenge on the Panthers beating them 20-10 to pull into a tie with Carolina for first place in the NFC South. The Patriots routed the Bills 35-7 bringing them to within one victory of clinching the AFC East title, while the Broncos won ugly, slipping past the Ravens 12-10 to come within one game of clinching the AFC West crown. Seattle proved they are the team to beat in the NFC as they crushed the hapless 49ers 41-3, while the Bengals slipped past the Browns 23-20 bringing them to within one victory of clinching the AFC North title. Jay Feely's 36-yard field goal in overtime lifted the Giants past the Eagles 26-23, while in the thriller of the week, the Cowboys kept their playoff hopes alive as they nipped the Chiefs 31-28 on a touchdown pass by Drew Bledsoe with 22 seconds left. Finally, in the Monday Night finale, the Falcons kept their playoff hopes alive with a much needed victory over the struggling Saints 36-17. Oh, and for all you Reggie Bush watchers, the Texans kept their claim to the "Wondrous One" as they threw their third game in a row, losing to the Titans 13-10.
So Detroit faithfuls, it seems like we have been caught in a season long bad dream and we just cannot find a way to wake up. A 4-9 record, six losses in seven games, an inept offense, and a grey sweatshirt wearing ex-Chicago Bear coach. "Oh my Dear!", this is not a bad dream, this is a NIGHTMARE and I don't envision us waking up from it in the next three weeks either. So as the Bengals come into town for the final home game of the year, unless we are told Matt Millen is fired, there is really no reason to want to cheer.
And then there were three! That's right, with just three weeks remaining in this season you do not want to get shut out now, so get your picks in for Week #15!
