Changing Fly Lines Aboard Your Tube
#23
You will read and get told that the proper distance for you swing should be 10 oclock to 2 oclock arm close to side using only your forearm which is correct in most situations. What I have also learned is to think of trowing a ball. To throw it to someone 20' in front of you 10-2 works, if you want to throw it 50' you have to extend your arm a little more and get ready to really put some muscle into it. Do not go too far back or will loose alot more flies.
Judge where you want your flie to land and feed just that amount of line. I also stop at 10 and then slowly lower the rod for delicate presentation. The line should be nice and straight. Stopping at 10 and letting the fly hit the water works great on rivers allowing a little slack for current or mending. There is also times you don't want to be delicate, nymphing, mouse, hopper, etc. You want the effect that they hit the water from the shore or a tree.
I fish dries in 28 to 32's and you learn to be delicate real quick.
Stillwater from a tube with wooly buggers and nymphs doesn't really require delicate, more stripping tech.
I am available and willing for fishing anytime, just let me know.

As far as the painting ceiling tech. The idea is to keep the tip of your rod traveling in a straight horizontal line, which sometimes requires the upper portion of your arm to move.
