I have only used about five different manufacturers reels. My go to reels were a Mitchell Copperhead and now my Shimano Sahara. I'd fish with either one again. I've also used Shakespeare, SouthBend, and some other cheapo reel I found on a pole one time. My experience is you can't go wrong with a Shimano. ABout the Okumas, my buddy fishes with an Okuma Metaloid I think it was, or maybe the Epixor. Whichever, it had ten bearings, was glass smooth but was a bit heavier than my Shimano. I think pricewise, it set him back sixty bucks or so but man, it was sweet. I'm definitely going to be looking at Okuma equipment as well as another Shimano, possibly going up a level from my Sahara to their 80 dollar reel.
