Fishing Info for San Mateo?
#2
[cool] Hey, Brother. Used to live in Sacramento and fished both the bay and the outside. San Mateo is on the bay side...with good stripers, halibut and occasionally a salmon or two. If you are into "gorilla fishing", you can go for sturgeon or sharks. Will provide more info if needed.

The outside (Pacific Ocean) this time of year can be nasty. But there is some decent rockfish around the Farallon Islands (about half the distance to Catalina).

A lot of the striper fishing this time of year is strictly live bait...ghost shrimp or mud minnows. Not nearly as exciting as pitching big white jigs at the bridge pilings later in the year. Although you can get into some "schoolie sized stripers" near the airport (near San Mateo).

You should check to see if there is a BFT board for the area, if you haven't already. Otherwise, search San Francisco Bay Fishing, and call some of the local bait shops.
