It is aluminum. I first put it on and thought this is going to get warm and bright in the sunny summer, so I covered it with outdoor carpeting and sprayed the under with black undercoating so no reflection from down under. Went with the aluminum to keep weight down. The whole boat (without battery and motor) weighs under 70lbs. I can lift it, but have a problem carrying it cause of size. My ol' man can carry it over his head.
