I hadn't been to Scofield all year so I decided to make a quick run up and see if the fishing was as bad as reported. Got a late start and hit the ice about 10:00 am. I know, a little late for Schofield. Temperature was a brisk 18 degrees when we got there. Fished by the shacks in 15 to 35 feet of water. Ice is really thick, 30+ inches of snow, slush, and ice. Caught lots of 8-10 inch fish, and 4 nice big chunky rainbows. Fishing wasn't what it used to be, but still fun. Only three other groups fishing, but couldn't tell how they were doing.
In a recent post someone asked when ice off would be at Scofield. The banks are still covered with snow and not much melting. Its going to be a while before ice off up there.
