I lived in San Diego and had a 20 TROPHY cuddy cabin which we used in the ocean often. I hated the boat ramp rush in the mornings so we would go out at evening and anchor overnight. We would BBQ dinner and fish in the bay til morning dawn then head out to sea.
One night at about ten oclock I felt a tug on my line. I figured it was just another sand shark or ray. I wound in the line and low and behold, there was a humongus LOBSTER on my line....
In the bay, and at least six pounds, this thing was huge !
It was the biggest lobster I have ever seen. I ve been fishing since 1955 and I ve seen big fish and this was BIG!. A Pacific lobster because it didnt have claws.....
The BBQ was still very hot from our eariler dinner and my wife started to drool. She got out the butter from below deck and when she came up the ladder she witnessed me tossing Mr. Lobster back in the bay....
I figured that since he lived to such a giant size in the stinking Mission Bay, he earned the right to live on......
He didnt bite a hook. Just got all tangled up in my line. I guess that counts as a catch..........
