[#0000ff]Smallmouth usually go deep for the winter. They still feed and can still be caught, if you sonar them and vertical jig the right lures. But, not good to bring them up from that depth if you wanna release them.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Lots of different fish move into the deep rocky areas near the dam when it gets cold. It can be a good place for perch and even some deep crappies. I fished it through the ice a couple of times last winter and the fish were in 50 feet of water. A couple of guys fishing a deeper spot were catching smallies through the ice.[/#0000ff]
