[cool][#0000ff]For what it's worth, DWR has been made aware of the kill and is going to monitor the situation more closely. Their assessment of this year's kill was that the lakes had more water, which increased both outflow and fish overflow...and greater fish kill when the water was shut off.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There was also mention, in one of the meetings, that in previous times there was always some water escaping, even after the shutdown, due to a poorly fitting gate (or something). Repairs were made during the last low water year to correct the leakage and that also resulted in a complete shutoff of water.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The consensus is that the dieoff is unfortunate, but unpreventable without owning some water rights.[/#0000ff]
