I haven't been able to try this one yet, but have seen it work. Once, while fishing Calf Creek (between Escalante and Boulder) for browns, I watched a guy attach a gopher head that his dog killed to a hook and toss it into a large pool. While I had been catching some respectable 14 in' browns all day, his gopher head did not hit the bottom of the pool before he hooked into something huge. It ended up being a huge brown that weighed at least 8 lbs. And this from a stream that can be easily jumped in many places!
