I have the exact same set up as gdn. I have hooks screwed into the roof of my father in laws shed. They hang up there out of the way.
I also like to take the face off of my reels, wipe them out, spray them with carb cleaner until shiney clean, then pack them with a heavy grease like wheel bearing grease. Vasaleen works perfect because it repels the water. I do this with all my reels, everything from my abu 5500's to my Penn 114HLW's. I've NEVER fouled a bearing, melted gears, or broken a face plate due to a reel failing. (unless I pushed the reel past it's limits) Also, WD-40 works great for cleaning the faces and creates a protective coating on the outside of the reel. NEVER use WD on the inside as a lube. WD-40 attracts dirt and grime and thins when in contact with water.
