I have the Strikemaster Lazer 8" auger and it is a lean mean ice cutting machine. Had it for over 5 years and love it. The only problem is the blades are $35 and very hard to find. I stopped at cabellas on monday and they carry the auger but not the blades. Smith and Ed's has both. They keep a good stock of the blades throughout the season.
