To avoid the confusion, it sounds like you came through helper and went to the town of huntington, then up huntington canyon. From that direction ( and yes it is the long way) You pass the e-la
ke dam (on right) as you climb out of the canyon before you get to cleveland (on left) or huntington (on left) The lake is not real visable from the dam locale in winter due to the snow wind plow mounds. You can acess the upper end of the lake from the paved road that links faiveiw/huntington canyons with scofeild. (also another way to go that is much shorter from hyway 6) If you come from fairveiw think the oppisite, first huntington (on right) then cleveland (on right) then as you drop into huntigton canyon the e-lake dam will be on your left. The first bridge that crosses the river is about 1/2 mile below the dam . Hope that helps
