[cool][#0000ff]I agree that you can always try to make something good out of a busted plan. Mama Nature can really mess things up sometimes, but if you find a way to enjoy what is there, it is not all lost.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In my scouting days, in California, we prepared all year for some pretty big projects. One of the things we did was hike into the Sierras, on the Forest Service trails, and conduct cleanup operations on some of the camping areas. We arranged with pack outfits to carry in and leave bundles of burlap bags at designated campsites. Then we would gather trash along the trails and at the campsites. We burned what we could and filled bags with cans and other noncombustibles. Then the horses would carry out the bags when coming out from dropping off campers in the remote areas.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]One of our big things was making sure that all of the boys who participated were properly equipped and in good physical condition before going. We wouldn't take anybody who was not "trailworthy" or who was not prepared to spend a few nights in any kind of weather. We learned the hard way on some of our early expeditions. Kids with poor gear or who couldn't handle the hike ruined the whole experience for everyone else.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]All I got to say is that whoever planned your trip to Mantua really picked a doozy of a time. The weather could not have been much worse for trying to have something like that. No matter how dedicated you are as a fisherman, that cold wind can ruin your enjoys pretty fast.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If we can gather up enough gear, let's plan to take the scouts float tubing somewhere this next summer. I can come up and do a little introductory program, to show them what they need and how to use it. And then we can all work on buying or borrowing what we need to get everybody properly afloat.
