Distinguishing between a Bear Lake Cutt and a Bonneville Cutt would be nearly impossible without doing a meristic analysis. Even that would be difficult. The problem stems from both beeing so closely related.
The best way to identify between the two different strains would be to look at stocking records to see which strain of fish is being stocked in the place you are fishing. If both strains are being stocked, identifying simply by visual characteristics is virtually impossible.
