Different hatcheries afford a different quality of creation for our little pets. Some have cement walls and tend to wear down the fins on our little entertainers. Others have softer sides or liners in the holding pools which allow the fish to keep a good shap on their fins.
Either way, when the fins are worn down, they do not fight as hard. They want to but they just don't have the uuuummmph to do it.
That explains why the state record Planted Trout, on 4lb line,was 30lbs. The poor thing couldn't pull like a 30lb Rainbow should pull.
I'm not saying that you can't land a fish that size on lite line. It has been done before, but when the fish doesn't have all it's horsepower, you are only pulling dead weight.[cool]
