Yuba rainbows 3/17
#1
Ran down to Yuba this morning - what a beautiful day! Arrived at 8 am and fished by the bridge. We caught several perch in the 10 to almost 12 inch range - yummy! Oh wait, we had to put them back - I guess to grow some more??? We landed 14 rainbows, kept 7 nice males for the smoker (they are in the brine as I type). Put back all the females as they are really loaded with spawn right now. All the fish we kept were around 18 inches long. Some were caught on the bottom with crawlers, some on bobbers, some on minnows, some on spinners - did not really seem to matter! Left by 11 when the fishing slowed down a little. The ice is almost gone out in the main lake with open water around all the edges and dark ice over the rest of the lake. One more windy day or a couple sunny days should clear it.
