[cool][#0000ff]I don't know how others handle the potential for tangles but I have a couple of ways. First, I seldom get tangles even if I don't take special precautions. I always hook my lure or hook in the hook keeper ring and the drag on my reels is usually enough to keep the line tight.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One thing I have done is to drop the hook or lure through the bottom guide (on spinning rods) to keep it tighter against the rod. If you have a casting rod, with smaller guides, you can first hook the lure in the hook keeper and then wrap the line around the rod a couple of times, securing it on a guide to keep it snug against the rod. Easy to undo when you are ready to fish. That works with flyrods too, if you don't have the drag too loose. No need to put a big bend in the rod. That only invites hanging up on something.[/#0000ff]
