Not sure that this is much of a report, but I promised I would report on my trip. Was hoping to get to Duck Creek at around 5ish on Friday so I could spend some time fishing, well...I should have known better, nothing ever goes as planned when you have 5 kids.
Didn't get to Duck Creek till about 9ish. I went to bed relatively early so I could go fish Sat. morning, then at around 3 am one of my twins woke up sick, at around 5ish the other twin got up sick as well, anyways...didn't get to go fishing that morning either. Spent Sat. at Zions, beautiful place, had a real good time there. Got back too late to fish that day too.
Finely, Sun. morning I got up early to go fish, got my gear and made the .1 mile walk from the cabin to Aspen-Mirror lake, got to a small bridge and posted right on the trunk of a tree there was a sign saying that fishing was closed till 4/20. lol....I was so mad. To make it worse, there were fish jumping all over the place, almost as if they were making fun of me.
It was still early so I thought I'd go back to the cabin and drive to Navajo lake. I went inside to get the keys and lo and behold could not find them. After looking everywhere I decided that my wife probably had them in her pants, I didn't have the heart to go in the bedroom and waking her and the kids up, so I didn't get to go fishing then either. Spent a very cold Sunday at Bryce Canyon and had a good time there as well.
Moral of the story. Know your regs before you go anywhere. PBH warned me that Duck Creek and Duck Creek pond where closed to fishing till next week, I never bothered to check whether Aspen Mirror Lake would be also. I would have planned a bit better had I done so.
We had a great time though, I had never been in that area. It's beautiful country. Wife wants to buy a cabin down there now which I'll relunctantly oblige to (
