[blue][size 2]You don't need a $300 mast. The most critical part of using big boards is the boards themselves. The purpose of the mast is to provide an elevated position to keep the tow line from dragging in the water. And with the big boards, you can get them quite a ways out and attach a half-dozen lines to one side, another half-dozen out the other side. And when a fish hits, there's nothing between you and the fish.[/size][/blue]

[blue][size 2]You can build your own mast using a chain-link fence post. A lot of guys build their own boards too. Just attach a pulley to the top of your "pole" and run heavy dacron line from the mast to the board. And you need the right clips/releases too, available from Cabela's. Heck, you could even just tie tow line off to a rail or something on your boat.[/size][/blue]
